attending school and managing your school and along with your preparations can
become too much. Regular school hours eat up most of the day and there is too
little time left for rest, play and preparation but there is no other way, the
best options that you are left with is to learn effective time management
techniques. Also learning these techniques at an early stage will assimilate
these traits in your personality and will help further on in life.
Here are some of the best ways you can manage your time
effectively.
· The first and foremost thing is introspection:
Carry a schedule and log every
activity and thoughts that you have for a week. This activity might seem to a
bit tedious at first but would give you a clear picture of how you spend your
time, this way you can see how much time you spend on each activity and then
assign more to ones those are fruitful. Apart from this also observe your
energy levels during the day. Each person has a different rhythm; some are more
creative during the day while others are more active in evenings and few are in
nights. Do activities that require most effort in these hours
· Maintain a time table and a to-do list:
This classic technique is very effective in
managing time, maintaining and following a time table gradually transforms
activities into habits, once a habit is formed you no longer have to struggle
on it, things happen easily without much procrastination and saves a lot of
time and energy. Also prepare a to-do list for the next day before sleeping,
this proactively prepares the brain and you won’t have to face resistance in
switching between different tasks the next day.
· The 80-20 principle:
Often known as the Pareto
Analysis, this idea says that 80% of the task can be completed in 20% of
the disposable time. The remaining 20% will take 80% of the time. To apply this
concept and increase your productivity complete 80% of the high priority tasks
by devoting 20% time to each and cover the remaining portion in the remaining
time.
· The Eisenhower Method:
This method states that all tasks must be evaluated by
important/unimportant and urgent/not urgent.
§
The tasks that are both important and urgent are
completed personally and immediately,
§
Important-not urgent tasks must get an end date
and should be done personally.
§
Unimportant and urgent tasks are often
delegated.
§
Unimportant and not urgent tasks should be
dropped all together.
Follow these simple techniques to effectively manage your
time, they can be applied to all walks of life be it work or personal life and
can be used by everyone.
