AIPMT BDS Seats Still Empty In Government Colleges

AIPMT BDS Seats29 September 2014, Raipur: Unlike past years this year there has suddenly become a shortness of students who are willing to take admission into BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) course at the government college. So far, even after the fourth round of counseling, only six out of 100 seats have been filled. This has become the biggest BDS Seats Under AIPMT news so far.
Dr. Sumit Tripathi, DME Deputy Director said, “The manual counseling that held on Thursday turned out to be a total ‘Flop Show’ as no student turned out for the session. With a drastically large 94% of the seats vacant, the whole batch is going to have only 26 students out of which 20 students are those who took admissions last year but failed to appear in the final examinations.”
As stated previously, this year’s response to BDS admissions have been extremely poor with the first time occurrence of such scenario wherein 94% of the seats remain vacant that too of a government college, seats that are most sought after by the students.
The government has already surrendered its 250 quota seats in the five private dental colleges throughout the state but like government seats they too have remained vacant. Such response is attributed to the government’s decision to not hold a separate entrance Pre Medical Test. All MBBS and BDS admissions have been made through AIPMT this year.
Out of the 20,000 students that have participated from the state for AIPMT, only a small group of 760 qualified. Out of these students, the ones who have a good ranking have already taken admissions in medical colleges outside the state, the rest have been absorbed into the MBBS programs in the nearby medical colleges leaving no students left for the BDS Course.
